Kitchen Youth Opera
The Kitchen Youth Opera Group was founded by Deborah in 2015. Welcoming talented, enthusiastic singers between the ages of 10 and 18, with a focus on developing their voices in a more classical style than the mainstream performing arts schools. The skills involved in performing opera help to increase confidence and self-esteem. Children learn to perform and speak in public and to work as part of a team. The company presents one production a year, with a condensed programme of rehearsals. Previous productions have included The Mikado, Trial by Jury, Snow White, Dido & Aeneas & Brundibar. Singers who have participated in Kitchen Opera have gone on to study at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Oxford, and Cambridge.

Deborah's website lists; Director, Lecturer, Teacher, Singer, Pianist, Vocal Coach and Voice Therapist. All her students would likely agree that mentor, agony aunt and life coach should be added to the list. After studying music at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, specialising in voice and piano, Deborah was awarded the singer's prize for outstanding achievement. Deborah went on to study music at Cardiff University and in 1994 was awarded the David Evans Music Award. In 2007, following a stint in Lugano and at The Milan Conservatoire, Debbie was awarded a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music. Deborah has since worked as a professional singer, vocal coach, and music teacher for over 25 years and has performed throughout the UK, in many noteworthy productions in a variety of styles from musical theatre to opera. As a vocal coach Debbie works with many notable companies & projects including Delfont Mackintosh. In addition to teaching, coaching, and performing, Deborah is much in demand as an internationally renowned lecturer on opera, specialising in Puccini, Wagner, and Mozart and on the history of Western music.
